Steak Restaurant in Canary Wharf
Hawksmoor is a premium steakhouse with a new steak restaurant in Wood Wharf, Canary Wharf. It is situated on an eco-friendly pavilion with 160 covers in the restaurant and 120 covers in the downstairs bar, The Lowback. There are a further 60 covers across two waterside terraces and a private dining room seating 20.

Having recently committed to the United Nations’ “Race to Zero” with a goal to become a carbon neutral company by the end of 2022 and net zero by 2030, the restaurant and bar are powered by green energy and use LED lighting throughout as well as a
cutting-edge ventilation and heat transfer system.
The restaurant interiors feature vibrant green leather seating with a stunning marble topped bar in the middle. Whilst it has a premium feel, it remains informal and not pretentious.

Their cocktail menu is extensive and creative – the sour cherry negroni is easily one of our favourites.

The Best Steak in London
Hawksmoor has always been one of the best restaurants in London with its consistent high quality. This remains the case with their new steak restaurant in Canary Wharf. Hawksmoor supports traditional British farming methods and works with small farms around the country who raise cattle to a specific set of guidelines around the quality of the animal’s life.
Given we knew how many sides we wanted (see below!) we decided not to squeeze in starters. However, there is a good range including roasted scallops, smoked salmon, crab on toast and oysters.
Unsurprisingly, the steaks are the main event with a choice of a larger cuts including Chateaubriand, Bone-in prime rib, Porterhouse and T-Bone and individual steaks including fillet, rump and sirloin. The larger steaks are priced per 100g and dependent on the size available on the day. We indulged in a 750g Porterhouse (split fillet and sirloin) with triple cooked chips, creamed spinach, maple roasted parsnips and bacon and macaroni cheese.

As usual, the food was absolutely top notch. The steak just melts in your mouth and tastes even better accompanied by béarnaise and peppercorn sauce. As for the sides, they are all incredible – the chips are indulgent, the spinach is even better than I remember (think it’s the nutmeg that lifts the flavour) and the macaroni cheese features 5 different cheeses, making it rich and delicious.
Save room for pudding at Hawksmoor!
The Sticky Toffee Pudding with clotted cream has always been one of my favourite desserts in London. I mean, just look at all of that sauce – no holding back there!! We also tried the The Ambassador Femmes de Virunga – an indulgent chocolate, caramel and hazelnut tribute to a Ferrero Rocher. It was incredibly smooth and delicious without being too rich.

Overall
Hawksmoor remains one of the best steak restaurants and their new venture is a welcome addition to Canary Wharf. The price point on their a la carte restaurant is relatively high but Hawksmoor offers a 2/3 course set menu which is available at lunch at early evenings for just £22/£25 . On Monday’s all of their restaurants also offer corkage all day for only £5.
If you can’t make it to one of their restaurants, they also offer a variety of Hawksmoor at Home boxes.
