Hotel in Sorrento

Set out below are two hotels in Sorrento that I stayed in on different occasions.

Part of the Thomson package holiday, we had a bargain one week trip half board including flights and transfers for around £500 to 4 star Conca Park.

It was well located around a 5 minute walk to the main square and 15-20 minutes to the port. There are two entrances to the hotel – one up a long tunnel (they offer little golf buggies to transfer you there) and the other one round the side by the pool entrance.

The rooms were spacious but the best bit was the view over the bay of Naples and Mount Vesvuis from our window. it was so nice to wake up next to that each morning. We were impressed with the pool area with a decent number of sunloungers and gorgeous cliff and sea views.

The breakfast and dinner was plentiful with more than enough choice. There is a menu for dinner in the morning so you know what to expect and there was always a choice of meat, fish, pasta, salads and so much more!

The hotel also offers a smaller lunch menu if you get peckish. There is plenty of space inside the restaurant and outside on the terrace overlooking the pool.

The stand out for me at the hotel was how accommodating the staff were. In particular, Franco (the General Manager) was always so friendly and enjoyed joking around. Oh and the frozen cocktails are DELICIOUS!

Located in the heart of Sorrento is four star Hotel Plaza. It has a beautiful reception and bar area and stunning views on the sixth floor infinity pool terrace.

The rooms are modern with a lovely walk in shower and ample toiletries. However, like many hotels in Sorrento there was no balcony and no views of the bay from our standard double room (but available for a supplement).

The restaurant for breakfast is on the ground floor and there is plenty of choice/ Do not forget to try the pancakes which taste great with maple syrup, bacon and / or jam. There is plenty of fresh fruit, yoghurts, cereal, bread, pastries and cakes, as well as bacon, sausage, beans, scrambled eggs, cold meats and cheeses. Oh and don’t forget to have some prosecco if you feel like a little tipple in the morning. Served between 7am and 10.30am, it allowed us to be very flexible during out trip.

The staff were accommodating and helped us with our day trips and printed timetables for the ferries.

We had a few drinks in the hotel bar and, in true aprertivo style, when you order drinks, you are served with savoury snacks by the pool (nuts, pretzels etc) and at the downstairs bar, tiny savoury rolls and sandwiches with crisps like a mini afternoon tea. Given I love a snack, this went down well with me.

The highlight of the hotel was the gorgeous rooftop with stunning 360 degrees views of the bay of Sorrento and Mount Vesuvius with a lovely infinity pool overlooking the bay.
