Indian Restaurant in Mayfair
Kanishka is a Michelin Guide Indian Restaurant in Mayfair, just moments away from Oxford Street and Regent Street. It’s home to experienced Michelin starred chef, Atul Kochhar, who has been at the forefront of Indian cuisine for over 30 years. He was the first Indian chef to receive a Michelin Star for innovative, fine dining cuisine in 2001 and received a second in 2007.
The menu at Kanishka showcases cooking styles and flavours from across India, with a focus on Pan-Indian cuisine. The interiors are intimate and sophisticated, without being stuffy.

We had the 6 course tasting menu with wine pairing which was exceptional. There were choices of vegetarian, meat and fish throughout. We shared different dishes which we loved as some tasting menus everyone is served the same. We had:
- Nashta (known as a pre starter in India).
- Dahi Puri – Wheat crisp bubble, sweet yoghurt & tamarind.

- Nadru Ki Chaat: Lotus stem kebabs & crisp with tamarind, cranberry, yoghurt chutneys.
- Crab Bonda: Cromer crab fitter with grilled corn, apple salad, khimchi and chilli-tamarind chutney.
- Monkfish Tikka: Chettinad spiced grilled monkfish tail creamed kale korma.
- Rosemary Sheekh Kebab – Grilled ground lamb kebab with British accent, mint, onion pickle.

- Meen Mappas Pan fried sea bass with coconut, curry leaf, garlic sauce enriched with caviar.
- Purani Dilli Ka Butter Chicken – A classic of old Delhi chicken tikka in rich tomato sauce. Served with black daal, cauliflower, bread and rice.
- Pistachio Kulfi With Chocolate Mousse and Chai Crème Brulee.

All of the dishes were executed beautifully with plenty of flavour and with perfect wine pairings. It’s a tasting menu to remember and the service is also great.
