Mexican Restaurant in Shoreditch

Santo Remedio has just opened its second Mexican restaurant in Shoreditch, with its first venue in London Bridge. It is an intimate venue which they say is an ode to the cafes of areas like Roma and Condesa in Mexico City. The interiors are vibrant and colourful and there is a relaxed atmosphere to enjoy great food.

Dishes at Santa Remedio

The menu is kept slim and simple with dishes split between Botanas / Nibbles and Tacos, Tostadas and Quesadillas. We shared the following dishes:

Tuna Tostada (£14.50) – Sashimi grade tuna, smashed avocado, chipotle mayonnaise, sesame seeds. This was our favourite dish – the tuna juicy, tender and fresh and the mixture of flavours were simply divine.

Ox Tongue Tacos (£9) – Braised lengua, pumpkin seed sauce, pickled radish. It was so soft, rich and delicious and beautiful with the pumpkin seed sauce and a squeeze of lime.

Baja Style Fish Tacos (£9) – Gluten free lightly fried beer batter, slaw with morita mayo. There was a great mix of textures with the fresh cabbage and carrot – a classic combo executed well.

Chorizo Quesadilla (£8.50) – Manchego cheese, grilled chorizo, caramelised onion, salsa verde. Super cheesy with a chorizo edge which was not overpowering and the salsa verde gave the dish a spicy kick.

Classic Guacamole (£7.50) – Freshly smashed Avocado, coriander, jalapeño & lime served with blue and yellow corn tortilla chips. Another great classic – the avocado was creamy but chunky and the jalapenos add a touch of spiciness with the lime and balancing it out.

Overall

Santo Remedio is an authentic Mexican restaurant in Shoreditch delivering great food with punchy flavours and excellent service. They have a bottomless brunch menu at the weekend which includes classic margaritas, cava, sangria and beer for just £27pp which is great fun!
