South African Restaurant and Wine Bar in Farringdon
Vivat Bacchus is a South African inspired wine bar in Farringdon with delicious food to accompany the wine. Their motto is “life’s too short to drink bad wine” which I totally appreciate! The Graham Beck, Brut Rosé Western Cape sparkling rose was one of the top sparkling wines I have ever had.

London’s walk in cheese room!
The venue (as well as it sister wine bar in London Bridge) has London’s only walk in cheese room. You can sample their award-winning British artisan cheeses from sustainable supplier, Cheesegeek. All cheese boards served with selection of chutneys or jams, fresh or dried fruits & crackers. There are 15 cheeses to choose from including Comte, Cashel Blue and Old Roan Wensleydale.
Dishes at Vivat Bacchus
The menu has South African influences with a focus of meats on the grill including Iberico {Pork Chop, T-Bone Steak and Peri Peri Chicken Flattie). We had:
- Burrata heritage tomatoes, beetroot
- Spiced Cauliflower Steak, almond ‘cream’, kale, pine nut dressing
- Duck Breast (seasonal)
- Chocolate Fondant (melts as sauce pours!)

The food was great – the burrata in particular was so creamy and the chocolate dessert was rich and indulgent.
Vivat Bacchus is a great venue for drinks with friends, date night or work colleagues and save room for some of their food.
