Aperitivo Restaurant and Bar Faro
Only moments away from where we stayed at Hotel Eva is Aperitivo, a cocktail bar and tapas restaurant with a large outside area and a dimly lit modern interior.
We started off with vermouth (homemade!) aperitif based cocktails from the lovely bartenders who are just so creative with their cocktail making. We had off the menu concoctions – one with pepper and coriander (when you hold the glass your hands smell fruity!!) and one with hibiscus tea – perfect level of ingredients and beautifully presented. One even came with a small side cone of Japanese style crackers!
Aperitivio offers a free buffet from 6-8pm (reminded me of being in Italy!) at the bar when you purchase a Vermouth (only €4.95!) So if you want something small or something to tide you over until a later dinner, it is absolutely perfect.
The wider menu
Given we had an early lunch, we were after something a little more substantial and the menu was right up my street!! Split into manageable sections, there were “appetizers”, “to share”, “must try” and “last but not least”. I noticed that the menu included dishes such as vegetable moussaka, chicken fajitas, thai chicken and ceviche, which reflects Aperitivo’s inspiration from around the world but adapted to the Portuguese culture and flavours.
Given we seriously wanted over half the menu we asked for a recommendation and that was the “to share” menu priced at €19.50. We had five tapas dishes which were brought out at different times so you could really enjoy the dishes whilst they were warm – I absolutely love that more relaxed feel where you are not rushing. Accompanying our sharing tapas we had a bottle Al Ria rose from the Algarve (oh and a glass of house wine is only €3!).
We started off with some Goats Cheese (sliced) and Roasted Sausage with small bits of bread – boy were they bitesize chunks of goodness!! Moving on to the Prawns “a la Guillo” sautéed in olive oil and garlie – I absolutely rated these and they would be up there with some of the best prawns I have had!
Finally, we also had Vegetable Moussaka and Pica-Pau “Aperitivo” – Portuguese style strips of steak with pickles – what a way to end the meal!
Restaurants and Bars in Faro (12)
As you may have noted from my other blogs, I am a food sharer (sharing is caring after all) and just love trying different dishes so this was perfect for me and also so reasonably priced for the portion sizes and quality.
We were full up by then and skipped dessert in favour of more cocktails…! Again we trusted the bartender to mix them up and we were not disappointed – one came in a fist shaped glass (awesome!) and the other pink fruity.
The gents serving us were really friendly and helpful with recommendations and the cocktail making was fantastic. Given the level of service, the quality of the food and cocktails, I would definitely recommend a visit to Aperitivo when in Faro.
