Ave Mario Italian Covent Garden

Fun Italian Restaurant in Covent Garden

Ave Mario is the newest and biggest venture from the Big Mamma Group who also brought Gloria and Circolo Popolare to London. It’s spread out over three floors and the decor is vibrant and eye catching. Think neon lights, red plush seating, striped walls, foliage and thousands of bottles surrounding its bar. It’s certainly a fun Italian restaurant in Covent Garden which was still packed out when we left at nearly 10pm.

Ave Mario Menu

There is plenty of choice on the menu from antipasti to primi piatta (first plate which is usually pasta), secondi piatta (second plate which is usually meat or fish) and dolci (dessert). There are also a small selection of pizza’s on the menu. We had:

  • Cacio e Pistacchio – Fresh bucatini pasta tossed in a rich pistachio pesto and a peppery cacio e pepe sauce.
  • Ravi-Holy Datterini – Home-made two-colour ravioli filled with fresh ricotta, lemon and Parmigiana Reggiano, served with burnt datterino sauce and pesto.

Two delicious rich pasta dishes which were decent sized portions.

If you are a chocolate lover make sure you save room for the Chocolate Al Porno. It has an oozy chocolate fondant base, hazelnut praliné, puffed quinoa and airy chocolate mousse. You just keep digging through the layers discovering more chocolate-y goodness!

Overall

With its vibey atmosphere, Ave Mario is a fun Italian restaurant in London that caters well for date night, meet up with friends and hen do’s! The dishes are reasonably priced for the area (around £15 for pasta) and service is good.
