Pub In Clapton
The Princess of Wales is a homely and welcoming pub in Clapton dating back to 1956 that has recently been refurbished.
We visited on Tuesday where there was live music between 8-10 which was a lovely touch. The Princess of Wales itself is very spacious and there is a large terrace area at the back of the pub overlooking the river.
To start we had the Slow cooked pork rilettes, burnt apple puree, cornichons, sourdough. This was delicious and we were also offered more bread if we wanted.
Following that we opted for the Chicken Kiev, Cornish mids, hispi cabbage, bacon crumb. This was fantastic and you could really tell it was homemade. We also had the Wield Wood Farm venison sausage ring, goose fat roasted Cornish mids, hispi cabbage. This was very flavoursome and rather filling.
To finish it off we had the Chocolate brownie, Jude’s vanilla ice cream and fudge which was AMAZING – so gooey and even though I was full, I just had to finish it off! The Bramley apple, damson & cobnut crumble, custard and vanilla ice cream was also fantastic and so good it came with custard and ice cream!
The staff were friendly and accommodating and we had a lovely relaxed evening in this lovely pub in Clapton.
